Fabulous Fountain

Fabulous Fountain

This is a recording of the opening ceremony of the Dubai Fountain. It
was dubbed as the most technologically advanced show.
The Dubai Fountain cost US$218 million. Water jets can reach up to 50
stories in height. Plus, the fountain measures longer than
two football fields at over 275 meters in length. It is so impressive
when it is in full display that it can be seen up to 200 miles away
on a clear day.

He's got the whole wide world

Bob Frew sent this out.

"I took this picture on Int.20, traveling to Leeds, AL. It has given me strength in the times of trouble. I feel I should share it with the rest of the world. I hope it is an inspiration to you. It just goes to show what we already know...We have a God, and he's watching over us.

I e-mailed this picture to News Channel Fox 6. I was contacted by Meteorologist James Spann. He said that this picture of the sky is showing up in all states and around the world. He wanted to know where I was from and where I took it. He saw a similar picture taken in Texas. He said this is amazing to him.

Would you look at this picture? It reminds me of that song 'He's got the whole world in his hands.' He is definitely in control. I needed this today more than ever.. Enjoy and pass it along!"

If you are happy and you know it clap your hands

I loved the Oprah show on Happiness today

I love Goldie Hawn and Oprah and
it was a fabulous show.

The best things in life are NOT things.

Happy is the home where love resides and good friends visit often.

Never lose your smile through rainy and sunny days

When you look up into the blue sky
You will find a great big smile through the clouds
Smiles are what fill us with delight
And bring us back to the good old days.

I'll be Happy When

I'll be happy when...

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire. The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.

It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with ... and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting ...
Until your car or home is paid off.
Until you get a new car or home.
Until your kids leave the house.
Until you go back to school.
Until you finish school.
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married.
Until summer.
Until spring.
Until winter.
Until fall.
Until you get a divorce.
Until you have kids.
Until you retire.
Until you die.

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

Take a Bow Windsor

Take a bow, Windsor, we're among world's smartest
City one of seven forum finalists

By Dave Hall, Windsor Star January 21, 2011 •Story•Photos ( 1 )•Video ( 1 )
Todd Sands and Kristina Verner are photographed at the University of Windsor on Thursday, January 20, 2011. The two are part of a team that hopes to get Windsor recognized as one of the most intelligent cities in the world.Photograph by: Tyler Brownbridge, The Windsor StarWINDSOR, Ont. -- The economic impact of being named one of the most intelligent regions in the world can't be overstated, says the head of the University of Windsor's Centre for Smart Community Innovation.

After being named to a short list of 21 in October, the Windsor-Essex region reached the final stage of the 2011 process this week when it joined six other cities on a list compiled by the Intelligent Community Forum, a U.S.-based think-tank.

"Making the top seven opens the door for economic growth because it provides us with a site visit by a group from the ICF," said Todd Sands.

"This group will prepare a report outlining our advantages and strengths and why we made the list.

"This report will receive global exposure among companies which watch this process unfold.

"These advantages and strengths are more than just marketing slogans, they have already been benchmarked and reviewed by an expert panel."

The ICF recognizes intelligent communities for being leaders in adapting to the demands of the broadband and knowledge-based economies in ways that help create sustainable growth.

In a brief biographical sketch on its website, the ICF credits Windsor with "crafting a new, more robust economy" in the wake of a meltdown in the automotive industry.

The ICF also mentions the university's new engineering school, fast-track MBA-level education at the Odette School of Business, completion of the WEDnet co-operative fibre network, which connects government agencies with educational and institutional facilities across the region and the launch of the Softech Alliance Network, a collaboration of individuals and businesses involved in information and communications technology.

"This is our time to shine on the world stage," said Kristina Verner, research and development officer for the CSCI who spearheaded the application.

On June 3, the ICF will name one of the seven finalists as the 2011 intelligent community at its summit in New York.

Sands said the site visit will take place within the next two months and could last 10 days.

"These are not quick overnight snapshots," said Sands. "The committee will be placing this community under a microscope so it can outline what it is we've done to deserve this recognition."

Sands said the visit is also designed to understand how the Windsor region has transformed its economy and what kinds of investment opportunities might exist in sectors in which the region excels.

In addition to broadband access, high-speed connectivity across the region, innovation and knowledge-based businesses, the ICF added health care as a theme for this year.

In the Windsor area, that's meant using high-speed connectivity so that medical students in Windsor and London can work virtually side by side, asthma suffers and their family doctors can tap into the Essex County asthma care template to better manage their care and that health care professionals caring for residents at Leamington's Sun Parlour Home can access real-time documentation right at a patient's bedside rather than having to chase down charts.

Annually between 400 and 450 communities across the globe participate in the ICF process.

God Gave me another new Year

God gave me another New Year
With a chance to start anew
May I be kinder, and wiser Lord
In all I say and do.

Not so caught up in selfish gain
That I would fail to see
The things in life that mean the most
Cost not a fancy fee.

The warm kind words that I can give
The outstretched hand to help
The prayers I say for those in need.
More precious these than wealth.

I know not what may lie ahead
Of laughter or of tears
I only need to know each day
That YOU are walking near.

Dreaming of Spring

Dreaming of Spring and working outside in the garden♥
I have some thanking to do for the person who left the beautiful flowers on our front porch.
There was no card so if you would care to share my darlings.
I am ever thankful for all of you and how well you love me♥

All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself." ~Ralph Ellison

Waterbugs And Dragonflies - Doris Stickney - A Funeral Reading

Down below the surface of a quiet pond lived a little colony of waterbugs. They were a happy colony, living far away from the sun. For many months they were very busy, scurrying over the soft mud on the bottom of the pond.
They did not notice that every once in a while one of their colony seemed to lose interest in going about with its friends. Clinging to the stem of a pond lily, it gradually moved out of sight and was seen no more.
‘Look!' said one of the waterbugs to another. ‘One of our colony is climbing up the lily stalk. Where do you suppose she is going?' Up, up, up it went slowly. Even as they watched, the waterbug disappeared from sight. Its friends waited and waited but it didn't return.
‘That's funny!' said one water bug to another. ‘Wasn't she happy here?' asked a second waterbug. ‘Where do you suppose she went?' wondered a third. No one had an answer. They were greatly puzzled.
Finally one of the waterbugs, a leader in the colony, gathered its friends together. ‘I have an idea. The next one of us who climbs up the lily stalk must promise to come back and tell us where he or she went and why.'
‘We promise', they said solemnly.
One spring day, not long after, the very waterbug who had suggested the plan found himself climbing up the lily stalk. Up, up, up he went. Before he knew what was happening, he had broken through the surface of the water, and fallen onto the broad, green lily pad above.
When he awoke, he looked about with surprise. He couldn't believe what he saw. A startling change had come to his old body. His movement revealed four silver wings and a long tail. Even as he struggled, he felt an impulse to move his wings. The warmth of the sun soon dried the moisture from the new body. He moved his wings again and suddenly found himself up above the water.
He had become a dragonfly.
Swooping and dipping in great curves, he flew through the air. He felt exhilarated in the new atmosphere.
By and by, the new dragonfly lighted happily on the lily pad to rest. Then it was that he chanced to look below to the bottom of the pond. Why, he was right above his old friends, the waterbugs! There they were, scurrying about, just as he had been doing some time before.
Then the dragonfly remembered the promise: ‘The next one of us who climbs up the lily stalk will come back and tell where he or she went and why.'
Without thinking, the dragonfly darted down. Suddenly he hit the surface of the water and bounced away. Now that he was a dragonfly, he could no longer go into the water.
‘I can't return!' he said in dismay. ‘At least I tried, but I can't keep my promise. Even if I could go back, not one of the waterbugs would know me in my new body. I guess I'll just have to wait until they become dragonflies too. Then they'll understand what happened to me, and where I went.'
And the dragonfly winged off happily into its wonderful new world of sun and air.

You will lose someone you can’t live without,
and your heart will be badly broken,
and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved.
But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp."

The Next Place
By Warren Hanson

The next place that I go
Will be as peaceful and familiar
As a sleepy summer Sunday
And a sweet, untroubled mind.
And yet . . .
It won't be anything like any place I've ever been. . .
Or seen. . . or even dreamed of
In the place I leave behind.
I won't know where I'm going,
And I won't know where I've been
As I tumble through the always
And look back toward the when.
I'll glide beyond the rainbows.
I'll drift above the sky.
I'll fly into the wonder, without ever wondering why.
I won't remember getting there.
Somehow I'll just arrive.
But I'll know that I belong there
And will feel much more alive
Than I have ever felt before.
I will be absolutely free of the things that I held onto
That were holding onto me.
The next place that I go
Will be so quiet and so still
That the whispered song of sweet belonging will rise up to fill
The listening sky with joyful silence,
And with unheard harmonies
Of music made by no one playing,
Like a hush upon breeze.
There will be no room for darkness in that place of living light,
Where an ever-dawning morning pushes back the dying night.
The very air will fill with brilliance, as the brightly shining sun
And the moon and half a million stars are married into one.
The next place that I go Won't really be a place at all.
There won't be any seasons --
Winter, summer, spring or fall --
Nor a Monday, Nor a Friday,
Nor December, Nor July.
And the seconds will be standing still. . .
While hours hurry by.
I will not be a boy or girl,
A woman or man.
I'll simply be just, simply, me.
No worse or better than.
My skin will not be dark or light.
I won't be fat or tall.
The body I once lived in
Won't be part of me at all.
I will finally be perfect.
I will be without a flaw.
I will never make one more mistake,
Or break the smallest law.
And the me that was impatient,
Or was angry, or unkind,
Will simply be a memory.
The me I left behind.
I will travel empty-handed.
There is not a single thing
I have collected in my life
That I would ever want to bring Except. . .
The love of those who loved me,
And the warmth of those who cared.
The happiness and memories
And magic that we shared.
Though I will know the joy of solitude. . .
I'll never be alone. I'll be embraced
By all the family and friends I've ever known.
Although I might not see their faces,
All our hearts will beat as one,
And the circle of our spirits
Will shine brighter than the sun.
I will cherish all the friendship I was fortunate to find,
All love and all the laughter in the place I leave behind.
All these good things will go with me.
They will make my spirit glow.
And that light will shine forever In the next place that I go.

God has you in His keeping
We have you in our hearts♥

your book of prayers
show them lines
drawn delicately with veins
on the underside of a bird’s wing
tell them you believe
in giant sycamores mottled
and stark against a winter sky
and in nights so frozen
stars crack open spilling
streams of molten ice to earth
and tell them how you drink

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is a beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.

One Flaw In Women

Women have strengths that amaze men.....

They bear hardships and they carry burdens,

but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy

and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in..

They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer

when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel

and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about

a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They grieve at the loss of a family member,

yet they are strong when they

think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss

can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you

to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what

makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.

They have compassion and ideas.

They give moral support to their

family and friends.

Women have vital things to say

and everything to give..

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,

IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

Your Song child a Story

Your Song Child - STORY

When a woman in a certain African tribe knows she is pregnant, she goes out into the wilderness with a few friends, and together, they pray and meditate until they hear the song of the child. They recognize that every soul has its own vibration that expresses its unique flavor and purpose. When the women attune to the song, they sing it out loud. Then they return to the tribe and teach it to everyone else

When the child is born, the community gathers and sings the child’s song to him or her. Later, when the child enters education, the village gathers and chants the child’s song. When the child passes through the initiation to adulthood, the people again come together and sing. At the time of marriage, the person hears his or her song. Finally, when the soul is about to pass from this world, the family and friends gather at the person’s bed, just as they did at their birth, and they sing the person to the next life

Deep inside us we all know that we have a song, and wish that our family and friends would recognize it, and support us singing it. We are all longing to be seen, appreciated and loved for being who we truly are

In the African tribe there is one other occasion upon which the villagers sing to the child. If at any time during his or her life, the person commits a crime or aberrant social act, the individual is called to the center of the village and the people in the community form a circle around them. Then they sing their song to them. The tribe recognizes that the correction for antisocial behavior is not punishment; it is love and the remembrance of identity

When you recognize your own song in life, put differently, are following the uniqe way of your heart and destiny, you will probably feel no desire or need to do or say or anything that would hurt another

A friend is someone who knows your song and is singing it to you when you have forgotten it

Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made or dark images you may hold about yourself

They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused.

They know that you are a special person with unique qualities, and that the world will be enriched by your presence and actions.

They respect and love you, unconditionally, when you are strong, as well as when you might be feeling weak during the journey of your life.

We hope that you know your song and that you’ll be singing it - and hope that you’ve got loving and caring people around to remind you, in case you should forget

Slow Me Down Lord

Prayer: Slow Me Down Lord !

Slow me down , Lord !
Ease the pounding of my heart
By the quieting of my mind.

Steady my hurried pace
With a vision of the eternal reach of time

Give me, amid the confusion of my day,
The calmness of the everlasting hills.

Break the tension of my nerves
With the soothing music of the singing streams
That live in my memory.

Teach me the art of taking minute vacations,
Of slowing down to look at a flower,
To chat with a friend, to pat a dog,
To read a few lines from the Good Book.

Remind me each day of the fable
Of the hare and the tortoise
That I may know that the race is not always to the swift;
That there is more to life than measuring its speed.

Slow me down, Lord !
Inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil
Of life's enduring values.

Orin L. Grain

This year I want the pace to be slow and easy
not the rapid rush rush rush that most people assume is necessary for a daily routine.

I hope your 2011 is off to a fabulous start.

Life is Like a Cup of Coffee

My Precious Grandmother turns 96 January 9th, 2011
WE adore you Grandmother

Life is Like Coffee
A group of alumni, all highly established in their respective careers, got together for a visit with their old university professor.

The conversation soon turned to complaints about the endless stress of work and life in general…

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went into the kitchen and soon returned with a large pot of coffee and an eclectic assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal - some plain, some expensive, some quite exquisite.

Quietly he told them to help themselves to some fresh coffee… When each of his former students had a cup of coffee in hand, the old professor quietly cleared his throat and began to patiently address the small gathering…

”You may have noticed that all of the nicer looking cups were taken up first, leaving behind the plainer and cheaper ones. While it is only natural for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is actually the source of much of your stress-related problems.”

He continued…”Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In fact, the cup merely disguises or dresses up what we drink. What each of you really wanted was coffee, not a cup, but you instinctively went for the best cups… Then you began eyeing each other’s cups….”

”Now consider this: Life is coffee. Jobs, money, and position in society are merely cups. They are just tools to shape and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not truly define nor change the quality of the Life we live. Often, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee that God has provided us… God brews the coffee, but he does not supply the cups. Enjoy your coffee!”

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have… So please remember: Live simply. Love generously. Care Deeply. Speak Kindly. Leave the Rest to God.

And remember - the richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.

You and all your family are always in my constant prayers.

A New Year Prayer

Holy Father,

God of our yesterdays, our today, and our tomorrows.

We praise You for Your unequaled greatness.

Thank You for the year behind us and for the year ahead.

Help us in Your new year, Father, to fret less and laugh more.

To teach our children to laugh by laughing with them.

To teach others to love by loving them.

Knowing, when Love came to the stable in Bethlehem, He came for us.

So that Love could be with us, and we could know You.

That we could share Love with others.

Help us, Father, to hear Your love song in every sunrise,

in the chriping of sparrows in our backyards,

in the stories of our old folks, and the fantasies of our children.

Help us to stop and listen to Your love songs,

so that we may know You better and better.

We rejoice in the world You loved into being.

Thank You for another new year and for new chances every day.

We pray for peace, for light, and for hope, that we might spread them to others.

Forgive us for falling short this past year.

We leave the irreparable past in your hands, and step out into the unknown new year knowing You will go with us.

We accept Your gift of a new year and we rejoice in what's ahead, depending on You to help us do exactly what You want..

I say it again, we rejoice!

In Jesus name,

Amen

A New Year's Prayer
Kay Hoffman

Another year is dawning
With a chance to start anew
May I be kinder and wiser Lord
In all I say and do.

No so caught up in selfish gain
That I would fail to see
The things in life that mean the most
Cost not a fancy fee.

The warm kind word that I can give
The outstretched hand to help
The prayers I pray for those in need
More precious these than wealth.

Iknow not what may lie ahead
Of laughter or of tears
I only need to know each day
That you are walking near.
