Life is like a rosebud

Life is like a rosebud
A newly ordained Priest
was walking with an older,
more seasoned Priest
in the garden one day.

Feeling a bit insecure
about what God had for him to do,
he was asking the older Priest
for some advice.

The older Priest walked up to a rosebush
and handed the young Priest
a rosebud and told him
to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young Priest looked in disbelief
at the older Priest
and was trying to figure out
what a rosebud
could possibly have to do
with his wanting to know
the will of God
for his life and ministry.

But because of his great respect
for the older Priest,
he proceeded to try to unfold the rose,
while keeping every petal intact.

It wasn't long
before he realized
how impossible
this was to do.

Noticing the younger Priests inability
to unfold the rosebud without tearing it,
the older Priest began to recite
the following poem...

"It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine."

"The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so easily,
But in my hands they die."

"If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?"

"So I'll trust in God for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to God for guidance
In each step of the way."

"The path that lies before me,
Only my Lord knows.
I'll trust God to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose."

Lessons of Love

A Photograph I took in British Columbia

Lessons Of Love

A ninety-one year old woman died
after living a long dignified life.
When she met God, she asked him something
that had long bothered her.
If Man was created in God's image,
and if all men are created equal,
why do people treat each other so badly?
God replied that each person who
enters our life has a unique
lesson to teach us.
And it is only through these
lessons that we learn about life,
people, relationships and God.
This confused the woman, so God began to explain.
When someone lies to you, it
teaches you that things are not
always as they seem. The truth is often far
beneath the surface. Look beyond the masks
people wear if you want to know their heart.
And remove your own masks to let people know yours.
When someone steals from you,
it teaches you that nothing is forever.
Always appreciate what you have,
for you never know when you might lose it.
And never, ever take your friends
and family for granted because today
is the only guarantee you have.
When someone inflicts an injury upon you,
it teaches you that the human state is a fragile one.
Protect and take care of your body
as best you can, it's the only thing
you are sure to have forever.
When someone mocks you,
it teaches you that no two people are alike.
When you encounter people who are
different from you, don't judge
them by how they look or act;
instead base your opinion on the contents of their heart.
When someone breaks your heart,
it teaches you that loving someone
does not always mean that person
will love you back. But don't turn your back
on love because when you find the right person,
the joy that one person brings will
make up for all the past hurts put together.
Times ten. When someone holds a grudge against you,
it teaches you that everyone makes mistakes.
When you are wronged, the most virtuous
thing you can do is forgive the offender without pretense.
Forgiving those who have hurt us is the most difficult,
the most courageous and the noblest thing man can do.
When a loved one is unfaithful to you,
it teaches you that resisting temptation
is man's greatest challenge.
Be vigilant in your resistance against
all temptation. By doing so you will be
rewarded with an enduring sense
of satisfaction far greater
than the temporary pleasure by which you were tempted.
When someone cheats you,
it teaches you that greed is the root of all evil.
Aspire to make your dreams come true,
no matter how lofty they may be.
Do not feel guilty about your success,
but never let an obsession with achieving
your goals lead you to engage in malevolent activities.
When someone ridicules you,
it teaches you that nobody is perfect.
Accept people for their merits and be
tolerant of their flaws.
Do not ever reject someone for
imperfections over which they have no control.
Upon hearing the Lord's wisdom,
the old woman became concerned
that there were no lessons to be learned
from man's good deeds.
God replied that man's capacity to love
is the greatest gift he has.
At the root of all kindness is love,
and each act of love also teaches us a lesson.
The woman's curiosity deepening,
God once again began to explain.
When someone loves us it teaches us that love,
kindness, charity, honesty,
humility, forgiveness and
acceptance can counteract all the evil in the world.
For every good deed, there is one less evil deed.
Man alone has the power to control
the balance between good and evil,
but because the lessons of love
are not taught often enough,
the power is too often abused.
When you enter someone's life,
whether by plan, chance or coincidence,
consider what your lesson will be.
Will you teach love or a harsh lesson of reality?
When you die, will your life
have resulted in more loving or hurting?
More comfort or pain?
More joy or sadness? Each one of
us has power over the balance
of love in the world. Use it wisely.

My friend Robin's Dad Bobby Kromm

There was a write up on him in Today's Windsor Star
Sports Section

Cancer claims former Wings bench boss

Photograph by: Jeff Haynes, Reuters, Star News ServicesFormer Detroit Red Wings coach Bobby Kromm, who won the Jack Adams Award as NHL coach of the year, died Wednesday from complications of colon cancer.

HE HAD TURNED 82 TUESDAY.

In 1977-78, Kromm led the Wings to a 32-34-14 record that included the franchise's first playoff berth since 1970 and first playoff series win since 1965-66 in a preliminary-round victory over Atlanta.

Although Detroit fell in the next round to defending champion Montreal, Kromm was named the league's best coach.

"We didn't have the greatest talent, but we were always on the attack," Wings broadcaster Paul Woods told mlive.com.

The Red Wings missed the playoffs the following season and Kromm was fired late in the 1979-80 season.

His record in Detroit was 79-111-41.

His son Richard scored 22 goals for the junior B Windsor Royals in 1980-81.

KABERLE RUMOURS

The New York Post reported that the New Jersey Devils may be a strong bidder for the services of Maple Leafs' defenceman Tomas Kaberle.

The Post quotes sources who say that Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello could be targeting the Maple Leafs blue-liner for a trade in the coming weeks.

Kaberle has one year remaining on his contract and an upcoming window in which his no-trade clause will be lifted.

He is set to make $4.25 million next season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer. Toronto is rumoured to be interested in receiving at least a high draft pick.

PHANEUF IN LINE

The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to name Dion Phaneuf as the club's 17th captain next week, according to a report on TSN.ca.

The team will hold a news conference Monday where they'll make an announcement and unveil a new Maple Leafs sweater.

Toronto has been without a captain since Mats Sundin did not re-sign with the team after the 2007-08 season.

EX-SPIT LIKES PHILLY

Ex-Spitfire Michael Leighton said he definitely wants to return to the Philadelphia Flyers next season.

An unrestricted free agent, Leighton said he considered himself a No. 1 goalie and doesn't know if he'll be back next year.

"I enjoyed my time here, I enjoyed the guys and the organization," Leighton told USA Today.

"It's kind of up to the team. I've still got to meet with Homer (Paul Holmgren) and talk it over."

Love through the eyes of children

Heavens blessings
This is at Heavenly Rest Cemetery

Love these crazy quilts

What Love means to a 4-8 year old.. .

Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. Touching words from the mouth of children.
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?'

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined See what you think:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.
So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love..'

Rebecca- age 8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'

Billy - age 4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'

Karl - age 5

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'

Chrissy - age 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'

Terri - age 4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'

Danny - age 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.
My Mommy and Daddy are like that.. They look gross when they kiss'

Emily - age 8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.'

Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,'

Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.'

Noelle - age 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'

Tommy - age 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.

He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.'

Cindy - age 8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'My mommy loves me more than anybody You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night..'

Clare - age 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'

Elaine-age 5

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.'

Chris - age 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.'

Mary Ann - age 4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.'

Lauren - age 4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image)

Karen - age 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.'

Mark - age 6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.'

Jessica - age 8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the final one

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

'Nothing, I just helped him cry'

-Thanks to my sweet friend Liz on the quotes on children♥

Home Made Gelato at the Baccio Cafe

Me and my dear friend Judy at the Baccio Cafe on a previous visit

My friends and I went to the Baccio Cafe last Friday after the movie.
They have a lovely cafe and great food and now home made Italian Gelato.

There are over 37,000 Gelato shops in Ital alone, where in the USA there are only
1,200

Famous artist and architect Bernardo Buontalenti is considered the inventor of Gelato

Sorbetto is a term for gelato that is made with water instead of milk

The Italian Renaissance is when the great tradition of Italalian Gelato began

Gelato was served for the first time at the banquet for the King of Spain in the lat 1500's

Gelato is a great source of calcium for non milk drinkers

In Italaian gelato means Frozen

Gelato is lower in fat and has fewer calories than ice cream

Gelato especially when made with nuts contains a high amount of protein

Gelato made its way to the Americas for the first time in 1770

Happy Monday

Much love and Happy Monday

Heavenly Grass

My feet took a walk in heavenly grass.
All day while the sky shone clear as glass.
My feet took a walk in heavenly grass,
All night while the lonesome stars rolled past.
Then my feet come down to walk on earth,
And my mother cried when she give me birth.
Now my feet walk far and my feet walk fast,
But they still got an itch for heavenly grass.
But they still got an itch for heavenly grass.

45 lessons in life

Our back yard

45 Life Lessons by Regina Brett (Celebrate Growing Older)

This was written By Regina Brett The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio --
To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.
It is the most-requested column I've ever written.

.
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their
Journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God
Never blinks.
16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get
Busy dying.
17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.
18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is
Up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no
For an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie.
Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years,
Will this matter?"
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends
Will. Stay in touch.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did
Or didn't do.
35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd
Grab ours back.
41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
45. The best is yet to come.
46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
48. If you don't ask, you don't get.
49. Yield.
50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Rabbit Rabbit

Thank you Ahram for all the love and joy you bring into my heart and world
each and every day
Counting the days until September.
I love you and Justin so very much♥

Bunny wearing a fresh peony from the garden♥

I wonder what it would be like to live in a world where it was always June
L.M. Montgomery

June is generous with her authentic gifts. Once again the days are sunny and hot.
The roses and peonies are in bloom, and it is time to feast on strawberries and cream.
School is over for some, camp begins and visions of vacations dance in our heads.
Our smiles deepen, our laughter increases, our hearts open. The month we rediscover
that it is life's enrichments rather than the riches of life that bring us true contentment.

Happy June

Thank you to my sweet little friend Jennifer who sent me a real four leaf clover she found and sent it in her gorgeous letter received yesterday.
I love you my sweet friend.
You bring me good luck and happiness♥
