APPLE DUMP CAKE (courtesy of my dear friend Shelley)

2 cans apple pie filling
1 yellow box cake mix
2 sticks butter

In a 9 x 13 inch oblong cake pan (ungreased); put in 2 cans of apple pie filling. Dump yellow cake mix on top of pie filling, then slice butter into pats and place evenly on top of cake mix. Place in a preheated 350 degree oven for 50 minutes or longer for desired brownness.

Let us all have a safe and happy Halloween
and let us all live applely ever after

The Whale Said "Thank You"

If you read a front page story of the SF Chronicle,
you would have read about a female humpback whale
that had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines.
She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps
that caused her to struggle to stay afloat.
She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body,
her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate ) and radioed an environmental group for help.

Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her.

When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles.

She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time,
and nudged them, pushed them gently around...she was thanking them.
Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.

The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were
following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate
to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled
from the things that are binding you.

And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude.

The Chocolate Orange
Ingredients:
• 1.5 oz. Dark Creme de Cacao
• 0.5 oz. Grand Marnier
...• 6 mandarin orange slices
• 1 oz. cream (half & half)
Add
the orange slices to a mixing glass and using a muddler or the back of a
spoon, muddle together. Add the remaining ingredients with lots of ice
and using a cocktail shaker, shake well. Strain into a "rocks" glass
filled with fresh ice and garnish with chocolate shavings.

The' LITTLE' Things~

As you might remember, the head of a company survived
9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was
His turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her
Alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
Because of an auto accident.

One of them
Missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take
Time to change.

One's
Car wouldn't start.


One couldn't
Get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
Took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today..


Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator,turn back to answer a ringing telephone.. all the little things that annoy me, I think to myself, this is exactly where I'm meant to be at this very moment..

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong,
The children are slow getting dressed,
You can't seem to find the car keys,
You hit every traffic light,
Don't get mad or frustrated;
It may be just that someone is watching over you.

May you continue to be blessed with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose.

Subject: God's Voice
A young man had lost his job and didn't know which way to turn. So he went
to see the Parish Priest.

Pacing about the Priests study, the young man ranted about his problem.
Finally he clenched his fist and shouted, "I've begged God to say
something to help me, Father, why doesn't God answer?"

The old Priest, who sat across the room, spoke something in reply,
something so hushed it was indistinguishable. The young man stepped across
the room. "What did you say?" he asked. The Priest repeated himself, but
again in a tone as soft as a whisper. So the young man moved closer until
he was leaning on the Priests chair.

"Sorry," he said. "I still didn't hear you." With their heads bent
together, the Priest spoke once more. "God sometimes whispers," he
said, "So we will move closer to hear him." This time the young man heard
and he understood.

We all want God's voice to thunder through the air with the answer to our
problem. But God's is the still; small voice... the gentle whisper.
Perhaps there's a reason.

Nothing draws human focus quite like a whisper. God's whisper means I must
stop my ranting and move close to Him, until my head is bent together with
His. And then, as I listen, I will find my answer. Better still, I find
myself closer to God. And there is no better place to be.

Fable of the porcupine

It was the coldest winter ever. - Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together. This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions even though they gave off heat to each other. After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. This way they learned to live with the little wounds that were caused by the close relationship with their companion, but the most important part of it, was the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

Moral of the story: The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but the best is when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities

You know it is love when you walk into the room and the person you love their eyes light up like Christmas Trees♥

Cracked Pots



I love everything from Asia especially if it is from Justin and Ahram

This was a gift from my Son some years back



Cracked Pots

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends
of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and
always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked
pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home
only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was
proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of
its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what
it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the
woman one day by the stream.

“I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to
leak out all the way back to your house.”

The old woman smiled, “Did you notice that there are flowers on your
side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?'”

“That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted
flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back,
you water them.'”

“For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to
decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would
not be this beauty to grace the house.'”

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we
each have that make our lives together so very interesting and
rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

So, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

22 ways to make every day a great one



On the 12th of every month my husband and I exchange love cards for our monthly anniversary.
We wed on February 12th and every month on the 12th we honor and celebrate our love as we do everyday.
Treasure those you love and know how very blessed you are♥



1. Sit quietly in a chair every day for 15 minutes with NO distractions.

2. Floss. Very important this one. Not flossing linked to all kinds of unpleasant things. Keep several containers of it around the house, next to your bed, near TV/comuter, in your purse/briefcase. That way you have a better chance of getting it done. It only takes 30 seconds. Really no reason not to do it.
3. Give someone a compliment or/and do a good deed daily.

4. Get out and WALK every day for 30 minutes, if you don't have 30 then 15.

5. Make good choices. Every good choice you make reinforces other good choices. Only you know what the better choice is.

6. Take a vitamin pill and if you live in the Northern US or in Canada pop a vitamin D.

7. Do some daydreaming

8. Call your mom or someone close to you every day just to say hi.

9. Drink a full glass of water. More is better but one is great.

10. Make sure your kitchen is clean each night.

11. Have something to look forward to. Make plans to get together with a friend.

12. Think twice before you buy anything.

13. Make your bed

14. Smile

15. Avoid comparisons.

16 Say thank-you like you MEAN it.

17. Have a goal. If you don't have any, make one, or two or three....

18 Eat some greens. Have a salad.

19. Stop and admire the things that please you.

20. Stretch

21. Suck in your belly button each time you think of it:) Hopefully it is several times a day:)

22.Try not to worry.....

The holiday is actually tomorrow but many have their meal today.

Everyday I give thanks for our mulititude of blessings.

Pumpkin Pecan Muffins

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed pumpkin,
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped roasted pecans
Preparation:
Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Add pumpkin and beat well. Combine 1 3/4 cups flour, baking powder, salt and spices; mix well. Add flour mixture to butter and sugar mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat well after each addition. Dredge pecans in remaining 1/4 cup of flour; fold into batter. Spoon batter into greased muffin cups, filling 2/3 full. Bake at 400° for 25 minutes or until golden. Makes about 18 muffins.

Soup recipes courtesy of my Son and Ahram
Kiss the cook often and season everything with love

We had fabulous meals with them both what they made for us and at gorgeous restaurants

Pumpkin Soup:

1 whole pumpkin
1 carrot
1 onion
1 potato
1/2 cup of Sour cream
Brown Sugar
Cinnamon
Salt

Boil water w/ salt.
Cut all veggies into bite size chunks.
Then add veggies and simmer for about an hour or until the veggies get puree-ish.

Next let cool and use a blender to mix all the chunks. Add sour cream, cinnamon, and brown sugar to taste.

Chicken Soup:

1 preroasted whole chicken
2 bay leaves
1 can kidney beans
1/2 cup of navy beans
1/2 cup of black beans
1-2 potatoes cut into bite size chunks
1 carrot cut into bite size chunks
3 celery stalks (diced)
1 Onion (diced)
Leaves from celery stalks
Teaspoon of Salt
Teaspoon of Pepper

Cut the hearty chunks of meat off the whole roast chicken and then break the rest of the bird up and throw it in the crock pot along w/ all the other ingredients and topping up the water.

Set on low and let cook for a day and ready to serve the next day. Stir occasionally and look out for bones.
