If"
For Girls
If you can trust yourself though others doubt you
And conquer fears that limit what you dare
So you can freely give to those about you
The skills and talents that rare yours to share;

If you can live, not for your pleasure only,
But gladly lend your gentleness and grace
To warm the hearts of those whose lives are lonely
And help to make their world a better place;

If you can balance dreams with practicality
And deal in facts, but never lose ideals,
If you can face the harshness of reality
And find the truths that prejudice conceals;

If you can be courageous when defeated
And humble in the face of victory,
Or give your best until a task's completed,
However difficult that task may be;

If you can temper facts with understanding
And seek to gently guide, not to control,
And neither be too lax nor too demanding,
But keep in mind the worth of every soul...

If you can strive, not caring who gets credit,
And work at building bridges, and not walls,
Or hearing idle slander, just forget it
And never fail to help someone who falls;

If you can give your help without begrudging
The patience, time and effort you impart,
Or look at others' weakness without judging
And see, not with your eyes, but with your heart;

If you can take resources that surround you
And use them in the way you feel you should,
You'll be a woman...and all those around you
Will be the richer for your womanhood!

See Me

See Me

What do you see, nurses, what do you see?
Are you thinking, when you look at me --
A crabby old woman, not very wise,
Uncertain of habit, with far-away eyes,
Who dribbles her food and makes no reply,
When you say in a loud voice -- "I do wish you'd try."

Who seems not to notice the things that you do,
And forever is losing a stocking or shoe,
Who unresisting or not, lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding, the long day to fill.

Is that what you're thinking, is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse, you're looking at ME...
I'll tell you who I am, as I sit here so still;
As I rise at your bidding, as I eat at your will.

I'm a small child of ten with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters, who love one another,
A young girl of sixteen with wings on her feet.
Dreaming that soon now a lover she'll meet;
A bride soon at twenty -- my heart gives a leap,
Remembering the vows that I promised to keep;
At twenty-five now I have young of my own,
Who need me to build a secure, happy home;
A woman of thirty, my young now grow fast,
Bound to each other with ties that should last;
At forty, my young sons have grown and are gone,
But my man's beside me to see I don't mourn;
At fifty once more babies play 'round my knee,
Again we know children, my loved one and me.

Dark days are upon me, my husband is dead,
I look at the future, I shudder with dread,
For my young are all rearing young of their own,
And I think of the years and the love that I've known;
I'm an old woman now and nature is cruel --
'Tis her jest to make old age look like a fool.

The body is crumbled, grace and vigor depart,
There is now a stone where once I had a heart,
But inside this old carcass a young girl still dwells,
And now and again my battered heart swells.

I remember the joys, I remember the pain,
And I'm loving and living life over again,
I think of the years, all too few -- gone too fast,
And accept the stark fact that nothing can last --
So I open your eyes, nurses, open and see,
Not a crabby old woman, look closer, nurses -- see ME!

Sisterhood

A little of this a little of that
from my heart to yours with much love♥

Love is the whole history of a woman's life♥

Sisterhood of the Traveling Butterfly

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time Passes...

Life happens...

Distance separates...

Children grow up...

Jobs come and go. Love waxes and wanes. Men don't do what they're supposed to do...

Hearts break. Parents die. Colleagues forget favors. Careers end...

BUT... Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach...

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end...

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you....or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters...

Daughter-in-laws, sisters, sister-in-laws, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other... and every day, still, we need each other.

Pass this on to all the women who help make your life meaningful.

I love this song I cannot wait to get the soundtrack and see the movie

The New Sex in the City movie.

Life is something to be enjoyed and lived rather than a well of suffering to be endure on the way to better things.
Life is not to be hurried through as a means to an end with our eyes on Heaven rather than the flowers by the wayside.
Life is to be enjoyed on its own terms.

From my fabulous cousin Brenda who lives in Michigan she picked up 2 two tomato varieties to plant in her garden
How wonderful.

From Brenda:

I picked up some interesting tomato plants, one is from russia its called a black russian tomato,
it matures in 69-78 days, and its color is a brownish red with a sweet spicy taste! The next is a Brandywine heirloom amish tomato and its seeds date back to 1885 from Brandywine Creek Pennsylvania! Timeless treasures from gardens past:)

Tyson's Abuser has been caught

I pray the punishment is the most severe.
Thank you everyone for everything

All of us have been heartsick over this poor darling dog Tyson.

WINDSOR, Ont. — A 51-year-old Windsor man has been arraigned on animal cruelty charges in connection with a savage, sexual assault that has outraged residents across the city.

Anjalo Abeywickrema has been charged with one count of owner permit unnecessary pain, injury or suffering to an animal. Police allege it was Abeywickrema who abused the dog, a Labrador mix between one and three years of age.

The dog, Tyson, was found in severe pain earlier this week in a schoolyard in the 700 block of Louis Avenue by two city workers.

Humane Society officials arrived to find that someone had put a condom on the dog's penis and tied it off — likely more than 24 hours before officers found the suffering animal.

The dog's injuries were so severe it had to be euthanized.

Abeywickrema was arrested about 5:45 p.m. Thursday at Wyandotte Street west and Victoria Avenue.

He was admitted to Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital with a medical condition and was arraigned from hospital via telephone.

He remains in custody pending a bail hearing set for 10 a.m. Wednesday.

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born
A Death Certificate shows that we died
Pictures show that we lived!
Have a seat . Relax . . . And read this slowly.

I Believe...
That just because two people argue,
It doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
It doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if
We understand that friends change.

I Believe....
That no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every once in a while
and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe....
That true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant
That will give you heartache for life.

I Believe....
That it's taking me a long time
To become the person I want to be.

I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with
Loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe....
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe....
That we are responsible for what
We do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done

when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe....
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I Believe....
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be
the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry
I have the right to be angry,
But that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe....
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had
And what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays
you've celebrated.

I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough,
to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe....
That our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
But, we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find
Out a secret. It could change your life Forever.

I Believe....
Two people can look at the exact same
Thing and see something totally different.

I Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of
Hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give,
When a friend cries out to you -
you will find the strength to help.

I Believe...
That credentials on the wall
do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...
That you should send this to
all of the people that you believe in, I just did.

'The happiest of people don't necessarily
have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything they have.

A Walk for Heavens newest fur angel

Photograph of Heavens New Angel

courtesy of the Windsor Star

FYI! A walk has been organized this Saturday to protest animal abuse; this was spurred on by the horrible attack that occured this week in Windsor on the young dog. It begins at noon this Saturday in front the Bisto at Dieppe Park; wear red! Everyone is invited: kids, family, friends, and furry friends too. Help support a good cause!

Pass the word along

This information from my friend Michelle Coulter

From Today's Windsor Star

WINDSOR, Ont. --The owner of a dog, which suffered from sexual abuse so vicious that it had to be euthanized, was identified by police Wednesday afternoon.

"We're trying to tie all of the pieces together quickly," said Sgt. Brett Corey, media relations officer of the Windsor Police Service.

No one has been arrested and no charges have been laid, said Corey. Police said the owner is not necessarily a suspect.

The owner is a male Windsor resident.

"People are outraged, they're asking what they can do to help," said Nancy McCabe, field operations manager with the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals. She said she received 10 to 15 calls Wednesday from people who wanted to offer their help.

She urged the public to call Crime Stoppers if they know anything.

"That could be the final piece of the puzzle," she said.

Corey said the police received a large number of tips yesterday from the public.

"It's really struck a nerve with the public," said Corey. Internal police investigations identified the owner, he said

Quotes

By Marilyn Monroe
"I knew I belonged to the public and to the world, not because I was talented or even beautiful, but because I had never belonged to anything or anyone else."

"There was my name up in lights. I said, 'God, somebody's made a mistake.' But there it was, in lights. And I sat there and said, 'Remember, you're not a star.' Yet there it was up in lights."

"I'm going to be a great movie star some day."

About Marilyn Monroe

I love the Dr. Oz Show

Two New Rices I want to try
They were in a basket I received for Mother's Day
I love gourmet food items

From the Dr. Oz Show

Cancer Figters in each isle

Produce Aisle Picks

Cantaloupe – a great source of carotenoids, plant chemicals that act as antioxidants shown to reduce the risk of lung cancer
Kale and cabbage – cruciferous vegetables, like kale and cabbage, are rich in diindolymethane, and might protect against prostate cancer

Freezer Aisle Pick

Edamame (soybeans) – These cancer-fighting beans contain phytoestrogens, that may help prevent estrogen-driven cancers by binding to estrogen receptors. They are also good for the men of the household since evidence suggests the isoflavones found in soy products may help fight prostate cancer.

Cereal Aisle Pick

Whole Grain Oats – Oats have the highest proportion of soluble fiber of any grain. Fiber is rich in antioxidants, helps fight colon cancer and phenolic compounds in whole grains my help reduce the risk of certain GI cancers. Dr. Oz’s picks in this aisle are cereals high in folate, fiber and/or flaxseed.

Beverage Aisle Picks
Orange juice – this favorite breakfast beverage is a powerful source of folate which has been linked to lowered risk for GI and pancreatic cancer
Green tea – one of Dr. Oz’s favorite drinks, green tea is lower in caffeine than coffee and can help prevent prostate cancer and possibly bladder cancer
Pomegranate juice – this juice is extremely antioxidant-rich and helps prevent colon and prostate cancer
Soy milk – also made from soy beans, soy milk works the same way as edamame to fight cancer

Household Aisle Picks

Sunscreen – lather on the SPF each and every time you go out in the sun to block exposure to ultraviolet rays

Mop or damp cloth – it’s important to get rid of dust without spreading it around your home. Recent evidence has shown that dust can contain the following:

PBDEs – a group of chemicals, one of which is known to be carcinogenic, which come from the inside of damaged furniture (exposing the inner cushioning) and from plastics and TVs
DDT – recent studies have found evidence of DDT in house dust, even though the pesticide was banned in the US in 1972. This carcinogen can remain in carpet and furniture for years after being introduced in your home.
Arsenic – this airborne carcinogen comes from mining, smelting, burning fossil fuels and other industrial processes. Eighty percent of arsenic can be removed by dusting regularly.

Mothering Sunday

In Europe Mother's Day is called Mothering Sunday it fell on March 14th this year.

My dear friend in Scotland shared some information with me

We were told in church this year on Mothering Sunday that the day originated from the time men and women were employed as servants in the large country houses. This was before the First World War...because after that things changed dramatically for the lowly working man and woman. thousands and thousands of them were killed during the first and second world wars...and then Unions came into power, so that the working man and woman began to have a voice. They were no longer 'just a nobody'. They'd fought and died in two wars...so they began to make a noise, and rebel against the upper classes, who had had it all their way since time began...One Sunday each year they were allowed to go home and visit their mothers, and their family, and so it was called Mothering Sunday.

Isn't that amazing?

This year our Mothering Sunday was on the 14th March...

I found the story of its origin fascinating. To think it was the day when the lowly workers were given a day off to go back home to see their mothers...and the rest of the family.

In Britain all the workers in the 'Big Hooses'...or the country manors were all living in ...usually in the attics of the houses...and their masters practically owned them body and soul. They had virtually no free time...working from dawn till dusk. Some worked on the estate owner's land, tending the animals or the crops; some looked after the forests and coppiced the woods; others were gardeners growing all the vegetables for the year; others were in the kitchen or housemaids or Ladies' Maids, some were chauffeurs and cleaned the cars; young boys learned their trades...it was known as being In Service. They worked long hours and tufted their forelocks or curtseyed every time their master or mistress appeared. Many never married... many young girls bore children to their masters or their master's sons...mostly through being raped or 'used' and then thrown out to the workhouse.

But! The war changed everything. So many died, such atrocities they bore and witmnessed that they vowed to change their lives for ever. And so Trade Unions came about and democracy instead of being treated as nothing... Men were given the vote...and women demanded it through the Suffragette Movement. Life was never the same again.

Thank you my darling friend for this information.
I love to hear of history and how we progressed to date.

Interview with God

Thanks for always putting a song in my heart♥

Among the Trees

When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness,
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.

I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, and discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.

Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.

And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say,
“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.”

I Know What Love Is

One of my most favorites portraits of Motherhood other than my own♥

My mother was the making of me... someone that I must not disappoint.
The memory of my mother will always be a blessing to me.
~Thomas A. Edison

I love the words to this song

There is a little girl with pretty curls, she's about five years old.

She's waiting at the gate for her dad to come home.

When he pulls round the corner in his shiny white car,

she feels the magic light up in her heart.

He picks her up and he holds her.

He says he missed her and he's glad that she is here.

As the child lays her head on his shoulder,

she whispers these words in his ear:

'Daddy I know exactly what love is.

Love is real simple and true.

Love is this feeling my heart gets

when I'm being held close by you.' "

Written and performed by Don White

at the Greenwood Coffee House in Ann Arbor, Michigan

on November 17, 2000
"Now she is twenty

and there's plenty of love everywhere.

She's getting married,

so her family and friends are all there."
"They are older,

and no one told her

it got crazy like this."
"They're going to night school.

They're working jobs too,

and they are raising three kids."

It can also be found on his Rascal CD

accompanied by piano and drums.

A live version of

"I Know What Love Is"

can be viewed on the recently

released DVD:

"It's a Great Day. Don White Live in Watertown"

While I enjoy all the versions of this song

that are on the CD's,

I have to say that none of them are as

powerful as hearing 'I Know What Love Is'

performed live by Don White.

Happy Mother's Day

Forever in my heart
My greatest joy in life to be your Mother
I love you with all my heart my Son♥

The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom." -- Henry Ward Beecher (1813-1887)

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”
~Washingon Irving

Acknowledging the good
that is already in your life
is the foundation for all abundance

~ Eckhart Tolle

“To be a star, you must shine your own light, follow your own path, and don't worry about the darkness, for that is when the stars shine brightest”

To the world you may be just one person
but to the one person you ARE the world♥

A little love can change a life.

My Friend Dani

My beautiful and talented friend Dani who creates all my blog designs and she gets so many compliments on, has also created the gorgeous piece above.
Such a very very very talented and beautiful person inside and out.

Dani the world is lucky to have you and I am so proud to call you my friend.
I thank you for all the joy and happiness you bring into my life each and everyday
with your kindness, generous heart and your loving spirit.
I am a very blessed lady with you in my life.
I thank you for everything

God bless you real good and may your Mother's day weekend be a perfect one.
I love you ♥

A good woman is proud.
She respects herself and others.
She is aware of who she is.
She neither seeks definition from the person she is with, nor does she expect them to read her mind.
She is quite capable of articulating her needs.
A good woman is hopeful.
She is strong enough to make all her dreams come true.
She knows love, therefore she gives love.
She recognizes that her love has great value and must be reciprocated.
If her love is taken for granted, it soon disappears.
A good woman has a dash of inspiration and a dabble of endurance.
She knows that she will at times have to inspire others to reach the potential God gave them.
A good woman knows her past, understands her present and forces toward the future.
A good woman knows God.
She knows that with God the world is her playground, but without God she will just be played with.
A good woman does not live in fear of the future because of her past.
Instead, she understands that her life experiences are merely lessons meant to bring her closer to self-knowledge and unconditional self-love...

Love this song it makes me happy

Happy Mother's Day everyone

Motherhood the Greatest Blessing

Thank you Justin and Ahram for loving me so well.

Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much love a heart can hold♥

We shall celebrate every holiday soon.
I cannot wait♥

A Grandmother is a Special Friend

My Grandmother helped raise me and I celebrate Mother's Day for her as well.

For you with so much love my precious Grandmother
Happy Mother's Day
A Grandmother is a special friend
She looks at the world through experienced eyes
and with wisdom she has gaine through the years
She helps you to see
just how good life can be.
She's there through your smiles and your tears.
She offers completely
her help and support in everything you try to do
She is willing to share
to listen, to care.
She is never too busy for you.
She enriches the lives
of all those who know her.
The kindness she shows has no end.
Her warm, gentle touch
Means so very much
She is your Grandmother and your special friend.
~Amanda Bradley

There could not be a Grandmother
more wonderful than you
Because you give a loving touch
To everything you do
That is why this comes with loving thoughts
and thanks for all you have done
And I wish your Mother's Day to be a very happy one.

God bless you my precious Grandmother.

In loving memory of my late beloved Mother

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”
~Washingon Irving

with lives even more temporary than our
own, live within a fragile circle;
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we would still live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only
certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan....

Irving Townsend
Separate Lifetimes

Heavenly Rest where Mom is buried is full of all the things she loved
Beautiful animals in ponds, fountains, fresh air, flowers, birds singing,
Flowers trees and beautiful statues everywhere.
God bless you Mom.
Someday we shall meet again
I love you and miss you more each day♥

Today my beloved Mother would have been 77
I will bring her the most favorite flowers to her grave
Lilacs, Lily of the valley and roses................

I adore and cherish and love in Heaven as I did on Earth and miss you more
than words could ever say.

Moments to Memrories

We don't always realize how precious life is
Or how precious the moments are,
That we share
Until we experience the loss of some we love
And we face the greatest pain in life we must bear.
We recall moments that stir feelings within us
Moments filled with laughter, smiles and tears
Moments where trials and triumpsh were shared together
Moments to be cherished for many years.
And when the moments have turned into memories
We long to recover those days that have passed
Our memories will keep our loved ones alive in our hearts,
Where forever those cherished moments will last.

This verse was also in my late friend Bill Storey's memorial card.
He passed away on Sunday.

DEATH~
WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO EXPLAIN IT ..

A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to

Leave the examination room and said,

'Doctor, I am afraid to die.

Tell me what lies on the other side.'

Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know.'

'You don't know? You're, a Christian man,

and don't know what's on the other side?'

The doctor was holding the handle of the door;

On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining,

And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room

And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.

Turning to the patient, the doctor said,

'Did you notice my dog?

He's never been in this room before.

He didn't know what was inside.

He knew nothing except that his master was here,

And when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.

I know little of what is on the other side of death,

But I do know one thing...

I know my Master is there and that is enough.

Darkness deserves gratitude. It is the alleluia point at which we learn to understand that all growth does not take place in the sunlight.

When two people belong together they make a world.

Thanks Lance for this video on your blog today

You share the best♥

My Son and Ahram are reunited in Seoul and both their faces are lit up like Christmas trees and this makes me so happy.
I cannot wait to see them both in September in Seoul for their wedding.

They share their gifts with those they love.
They use their talents to create a legacy of joy and optimism and kindness
and their family will be blessed for generations to come.

It all begins and ends with family♥

May First Rabbit Rabbit

I love those charming brochures from the LCBO
I thought this one appropriate for a French Lesson posted from my friend Corey in France.

Rabbit cookie and wedding cake cookie

Rabbit Rabbit

May first: On this day the French give a branch of Lily of the Valley to one another. It is a tradition to give this flower as a sign of happiness.
From my friend Corey as posted on Facebook.

She also has a posting on her blog
Click on Coreys Tongue in Cheek in the sidebar.

Thanks Corey I love to hear all the traditions around the world.

Our Lily of the Valley growing in our front garden are not quite ready yet no flowers on them in bloom. Soon there will be those fragrant white little bell flowers my beloved Mom loved so much and I do too.

May is such a beautiful month.

Let all thy joys be as the month of May
~Francis Quarles

The month of May casts her magic spell as Springs promies is finally fulfilled. We turn our attention homeward, as we continue to weave simplicity into our daily round.
With fresh eyes and loving heart we reconsider our daily rounds.
We learn to savor everyday epiphanies, as we encounter the sacred in the ordinary.
