Treasured Tuesday

The tender word forgotten, the letter you did not write, the flower you might have sent, dear, are your haunting ghosts tonight...

~Margaret Elizabeth Sangster

Above quote used from these fabulous photographs and quotes on flickr

Thank you

I enjoy this

Yesterday at Bowrings at Windsor Crossings they had their Christmas trees up and I thought of my friend Nia with one tree all decorated with Cupcake ornaments.

Everything is so beautiful indeed.

Although I still feel it is much too early for Christmas things they are out and in abundance.

How do you decorate your Christmas tree(s)?

Love is all you need

EXCERPT FROM THE VELVETEEN RABBIT
~ By Margery Williams ~

"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but Really loves you, then you become Real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"

"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get all loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

Happy Sweetest Day

Hats off to Detroit

It would be so sweet if the Detroit Tigers won tonight.
Routing all the way.
Photograph I copied from a posting my son made on Facebook.

My fabulous cousin Wendy and her daughter Erinn amongst the leaves in Northern Michigan.
As my darling cousin Wendy says to me we are jewels to each others eyes.

My Son as a small child amongst the many leaves we always had in our former home
where he grew up.
The sweetest memories to recall.

Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving. ~Kahlil Gibran

Happy Sweetest Day everyone.

The greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

If I had to raise my child over again

If you bungle raising children, anything else you do in life
is of very little significance.

If I had my child to raise all over again,
I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging.

Go Tigers

Justin and Ahram at a baseball game in Seoul
with their Detroit Tiger Hats on from their visit
in the summer♥

Photograph taken at 4:00 am this morning as I woke up and rejoicing that the
TIGERS won last night♥

Two 90-year-old women, Bertha and Betty, had been friends all of their lives. When it was clear that Bertha was dying, Betty visited her every day. One day Betty said, "Bertha, we both loved playing softball all our lives, and we played all through high school. Please do me one favor: when you get to heaven, somehow you must let me know if there's women's softball there."

Bertha looked up at Betty from her deathbed and said, "Betty, you've been my best friend for many years. If it's at all possible, I'll do this favor for you." Shortly after that, Bertha died.

A few nights later, Betty was awakened from a sound sleep by a blinding flash of white light and a voice calling out to her, "Betty, Betty." "Who is it," asked Betty, sitting up suddenly. "Who is it?" "Betty -- it's me, Bertha." "You're not Bertha. Bertha just died." "I'm telling you, it's me, Bertha," insisted the voice. "Bertha! Where are you?" "In heaven," replied Bertha. "I have some really good news and a little bad news." "Tell me the good news first," said Betty. "The good news," Bertha said with joy and enthusiasm, "is that there's women's softball in heaven. Better yet, all of our old buddies who died before me are here, too. Even better than that, we're all young again. Better still, it's always Springtime and it never rains or snows. And best of all, we can play softball all we want, and we never get tired." "That's fantastic," said Betty. "It's beyond my wildest dreams! So what's the bad news?" "You're pitching Tuesday." ------- Life is uncertain - Eat dessert first!!
Thanks to my dear friend Roberta for the giggles and love and laughter each day♥

We are all routing for the Detroit Tigers♥

Everyday Thanksgiving

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings, thank
You, Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.
Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long
as possible, thank You, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising, thank You, Lord,
that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, thanks when socks are
lost, toast is burned, tempers are short, and my children are so
loud. Thank You, Lord, for my family. There are many who are lonely.

Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in
magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced, thank You, Lord, for
the food we have. There are many who are hungry.

Even though the routine of my job is often monotonous, thank You,
Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are many who have no job.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my
circumstances were not so modest, thank You, Lord, for life.

In loving memory of Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs 2005 Commencement address

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you w...ill gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." - Steve Jobs

Teacher has the golden rule

The fabulous Imperial Palace in Seoul where we stayed as guests
from the extreme generous hearts of my Son and his wife.

One day we shall return here to celebrate again.

Well Hooners, we teach at the third best private (full curriculum) elementary school in Seoul. That's according to the Seoul Ministry of Education report released as of this week. Kaesang in Seocho-gu (also an immersion school) is #1 in case you're interested.

The latest news from my Son.
So proud of him.

Teachers know how to make little ones count.

If you love your son you must let him travel. ~ Japanese proverb

To My Beautiful Friend Judy

A surprise 60th birthday party was held for my dear friend Judy by her family
on Sunday.
How wonderful indeed.
A complete surprise and so much fun.
I love you Judy

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend. Someone who changes your life just by being part of it. Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop. Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is forever friendship. When you're down and the world seems dark and empty, your forever friend lifts you up in spirit and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full. Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times and the confused times. If you turn and walk away, your forever friend follows. If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and cheers you on. Your forever friend hold your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay. And if you find such a friend, you feel happy and complete because you need not worry. You have a forever friend, and forever has no end.

Praying for Amanda Knox I hope they set her free.

Rabbit Rabbit

August 2011

Rabbit Rabbit♥

The fields are harvested and bare,
And Winter whistles through the square
October dresses in flame and gold
Like a woman afraid of growing old.
Anne Mary Lawler

Now Indian summer arrives, a change of season that is more a sense memory than a date on the calendar. Finally the heat is passing. Gradually familiar surroundings don a rustic palate of jewel tones that dazzle with their beauty. Let October seduce you with her charms. "Beguile us in th way you know," poet Robert Frost entreated this season of abundance. Release one leaf at the break of day.

From the book Simple Abundance

I want to try the new Italian Restaurant Fratelli, Waiting for Armando's to open up out our way (Old Tony Macaroni's) and want to check out a new store Artessa The Art of Fine Acessories on Wyandotte St. E. Where Mrs. Jones is and Madisons in that block.
So many new and wonderful places to visit.
