Kurtis and Brenda

Blessings for my beautiful niece Michelle on her wedding day.
"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams"

Dr. Seuss

Story sent to me via email by another dear friend
I love to share these stories with you all
Love Jeanne

KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL

In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice
came over the loud speaker asking for a carry out at register 4. Kurtis was
almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the
call. As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the
new check-out girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he

was only 22) and he fell in love.

Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find
out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card
and punched out, then left. He looked at her card, BRENDA. He walked out only to

see her start walking up the road. Next day, he waited outside as she left the supermarket,

and offered her a ride home. He looked harmless enough, and she accepted. When he

dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see her again, outside of work. She simply

said it wasn't possible.

He pressed and she explained she had two children and she couldn't afford a
baby-sitter, so he offered to pay for the baby-sitter. Reluctantly she accepted
his offer for a date for the following Saturday. That Saturday night he arrived
at her door only to have her tell him that she was unable to go with him. The
baby-sitter had called and canceled. To which Kurtis simply said, "Well,
let's take the kids with us."

She tried to explain that taking the children was not an option, but again not
taking no for an answer, he pressed. Finally Brenda, brought him inside to meet
her children. She had an older daughter who was just as cute as a bug, Kurtis
thought, then Brenda brought out her son, in a wheelchair. He was born a
paraplegic with Down Syndrome.

Kurtis asked Brenda, "I still don't understand why the kids can't
come with us?" Brenda was amazed. Most men would run away from a woman
with two kids, especially if one had disabilities - just like her first husband
and father of her children had done. Kurtis was not ordinary - - - he had a
different mindset.

That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up the kids, went to dinner and the
movies. When her son needed anything Kurtis would take care of him. When he
needed to use the restroom, he picked him up out of his wheelchair, took him and
brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis. At the end of the evening, Brenda
knew this was the man she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life
with.

A year later, they were married and Kurtis adopted both of her children.
Since then they have added two more kids.

So what happened to Kurtis the stock boy and Brenda the check-out girl? Well,
Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Warner now live in Arizona , where he is currently employed
as the quarterback of the National Football League Arizona Cardinals and has his

Cardinals in the hunt for a possible appearance in the Super Bowl. Is this a
surprise ending or could you have guessed that he was not an ordinary person.

It should be noted that he also quarterbacked the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.

He has also been the NLF's Most Valuable Player twice and the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player.

AND THE REST OF THE STORY:

Today at church our minister mentioned that when Kurt, his wife and 7 children go out to eat he

has one of his children pick out a family eating at the restaurant. Kurt then tells the wait staff he is

picking up the tab for that family's dinner anonimously. He remembers the days he was working nights

in the grocery store and feeding his family on food stamps.

My niece Michelle gets married today.

Blessings on your wedding day.

One shoe can change a life.

Update on Grandma

My Aunt and Uncle waited with Grandma for hours at the hospital yesterday.

There was a glitch and it seems no paper work for X-Rays to be done at the hospital was received

so Grandma was once again returned to the nursing home.

We all feel very bad for her.

Thank God me and the handsome guy are going out for laughter tonight

seeing a comedian we love.

Women Power

If you could please keep my precious Grandmother in your prayers
She once again has to be transported from the nursing home
to the hospital for more X-Rays from her fall last week.
My Aunt and Uncle will go with her.
We love you Grandma~
We send our prayers for you

This was sent to me by a dear friend

Women Power

By the time the Lord made women, he was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An Angel appeared and said, "Why are you spending so much time on this one?"

And the Lord answered and said, "Have you seen the specification sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have 200 movable parts, all

replaceable, run on black coffee and leftovers, have a lap that can hold three

children at one time, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a

broken heart, and have six pairs of hands,"

The Angel was astounded at the requirements for this one.
"Six pairs of hands! No Way!", And that's just on the standard model?" the Angel

asked. The Angel tried to stop the Lord. "This is too much work for one day. Wait

until tomorrow to finish,"

"But I can't!", the Lord protested, "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so

close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work

18 HR days.

The Angel moved closer and touched the woman. "But you have made her so soft,

Lord."

"She is soft," the Lord agreed, "but I have also made her tough. You have no idea
what she can endure or accomplish."
"Will she be able to think?", asked the Angel.
The Lord replied, "Not only will she be able to think, she will be
able to reason, and negotiate,"
The Angel then noticed something and reached out and touched the
woman's cheek. "Oops, it looks like you have a leak with this model. I told you that
you were trying to put too much into this one,"
"That's not a leak," the Lord objected, "that's a tear!"
"What's the tear for?" the Angel asked.
The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her pain, her
disappointment, her loneliness, her grief, and her pride."
The Angel was impressed. "You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything, for
women are truly amazing,"
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They carry hardships, they carryburdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up for injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong
when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all sizes, in all colours and shapes.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they
care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
They bring joy and hope. They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have a lot
to say and a lot to give.

Love Sweet Love

I Carry Your Heart by E. E. Cummings

I carry your heart with me
(I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it
(anywhere I go you go, my dear;
and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
I fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)
I want no world(for beautiful you are my world,
my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you.

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart(I carry it in my heart)
It moved me to tears as it always does!!!!

Two Travelling Angels

May Angels always protect you
May troubles always neglect you

Two travelling angels stopped to spend the night the home of a wealthy family.

The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room.

Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement.

As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it.

When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied,

"Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife.

After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest.

When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears.

Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.

The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen?

The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused.

The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.

"Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied.

"When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall.

Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it."

"Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead.

Things aren't always what they seem."

Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every out come is always to your advantage. You just might not know it until some time later...

Memorial Service for my Friend Laura Today

It is my friend Laura's memorial service today.
We grew up across the street from one another
and were best friends all through our childhood.
Thank you Barb (Laura's daughter) for arranging this here in Windsor for us all
for making the long drive here and for all you do in spite of your own grief at this time.

What the cocoon calls the end of the world
God calls a butterfly.

God touched her with His fingers and she slept.

Treasure those you love.
They may not be here tomorrow.

White Hare's Dream

Life is something to be enjoyed and lived
rather than a well of suffering to be endured
on the way to better things.
Life is not to be hurried through as a means to an end
with our eyes on Heaven
rather than the flowers by the wayside.
Life is to be enjoyed on its own terms.

If you don't already think animals are far more spiritually advanced than we humans, think again. Stuart Brown describes Norbert Rosing's striking images of a wild polar bear coming upon tethered sled dogs in the wilds of Canada 's Hudson Bay .

The photographer was sure that he was going to see the end of his dogs when the polar bear wandered in.

The Polar Bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs.

May you always have love to share, health to spare, and friends that care.

Care for God's little creatures

It is so very cold outside and I worry about the birds and all the animals out in the bitter cold.

This recipe was sent to me via one of my favorite garden centers, Cindy's home and Garden
Center in Kingsville Ontario

Take care of yourselves and all God's creatures.

Cindy's Home & Garden recipe for Making a Bird Seed Wreath.
Ingredients
8 cups of birdseed
4 packages of Knox gelatin
1.5 cups of boiling water
8 tbs. cold water
Boil the 1.5 cups of water. Empty the 4 packs of gelatin into large bowl and mix with the 8 tbs. of cold water. Add the boiling water and stir for 2-3 minutes or until gelatin dissolves.
Stir in 8 cups of birdseed and mix thoroughly.
Let the mixture set for a few minutes , then stir again. Repeat the process a few times, allowing the seed to absorb the liquid.
Spoon the mixture into a greased bundt pan and put in the fridge for at least three hours. Remove the wreath from the mould by inverting and tapping along the bottom. The pan may need to be at room temperature. Allow the wreath to dry up to two days on a cooling rack for air circulation. Hang the wreath and watch the birds enjoy!
** note- the wreath eases out of a silicone bundt pan the easiest.

God is Good Always

God Is Good All The Time
(via email)
Author Unknown to me

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'

1.
Pray

2.
Go to bed on time.

3.
Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4.
Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5.
Delegate tasks to capable others.

6.
Simplify and unclutter your life.

7.
Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)

8.
Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9
. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time;

don't lump the hard things all together.

10.
Take one day at a time.

11.
Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what
God would have you do and let go of the anxiety .
If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.

12
. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13
. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.

14
. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.

15
. Do something for the child in You everyday.

16
. Carry an attitude of gratitude and share it.

17
. Get enough rest.

18
. Eat right.

19
. Get organized so everything has its place.

20
. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.

21
. Write down thoughts and inspirations.

22
. Every day, find time to be alone.

23
. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot.
Try to nip small problems in the bud.
Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.

24
. Make friends with Godly people.

25
. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

26
. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you Lord'

27
. Laugh.

28
. Laugh some more!

29
. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.

30
. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31
. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32
. Sit on your ego.

33.
Talk less; listen more.

34
. Slow down.

35
. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.

36
. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before.
GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.

'If God is for us, who can be against us?'

FEEL GOOD KNOWING THAT GOD IS ALWAYS BLESSING YOU!

What the caterpillar calls the end of the world.
God calls a butterfly

Though nothing can bring back the hours of the splendor in the grass, of the glory in the flowers, we will grieve not, rather find, strength in what remains behind.

Her Journey has just begun

Don't think of her as gone away
her journey has just begun
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much

I love Leona Lewis I love this song

Bless shoe darling ones

I love Leona Lewis
I have been listening to this song all day long
Run

I love Leona Lewis

Sent to me via email today.

Love you Martha

I love all you send me.

Muuuuuah

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful.
But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND EVER! FRIENDS FOREVER!

The Whale and Grandma turns 94 January 9th

One of my favorites

The Whale

A female humpback whale had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines.

She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat.

She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate ) and radioed for help.

Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her -- a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her.

When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them.

They said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.

The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time,
and he will never be the same.

May you, and all those you love, be so fortunate...

To be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you.

And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude.

I pass this on to you , my friend, in the same spirit

Life is short ...forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly,
laugh uncontrollably...

and never regret anything that made you smile
and loved you well.
Celebrate you and surround yourself with people that do.
I love you
My Grandmother has requested no birthday party this year.
Although we are all so disappointed we must respect her wishes.
She will be 94 tomorrow.
God bless you darling Grandmother~
I love you precious one.

My Grandmother calls me Lovely
Written for my beloved Grandmother on her 94th birthday, January 9, 2009

My Grandmother calls me lovely
And in her eyes I can be
Everything good and kind in this world
And all that she taught to me.

Her love is so very kind and generous
Her home always an open door
In our hearts you will always be
So precious and adored.

I can never say how many times
My love for you is so profound
In you our precious Grandmother
The true love of God is found

I love you with all my heart
Happy Birthday with so much love.

In today's world with every bit of news choosing to reflect upon on the gloom and doom

we need positive words and inspiration to pull us through.

Catch a Falling Star

Dancing in the clouds, far above the earth,
a rainbow-coloured fairy espies a shower of falling stars.
Holding out her hands she hopes to catch one of the brilliant streaks of light.
Her aim is to catch one and make a wish for peace and harmony
for the whole world.
Let us hope she is successful

Visit with Grandma

January the month of dreams

Grandma will be 94 January 9th.
I had a lovely visit with her this morning.
She had on a bright pink sweater and I rubbed her forhead and head.
I brought her steeped tea.
She is still congested.
She was at the breakfast table waiting to have her breakfast.
She was in a good mood. I read her the New Year's Prayer off the bulletin and told her she is our January calendar girl with her birthday proudly displayed in the bulletin.
They are having a birthday party at the home January 5th 2:00 PM tomorrow but I will be unable to attend

I put new pictures up and a birthday note on her bulletin board.
The poinsettia plant I bought her for Christmas is gone.
I went to visit the bird Billie and he sang and danced for me so sweetly.

New Year's Prayer

by Kay Hoffman

Another year is dawning
With a chance to start anew
May I be kinder and wiser Lord
In all I say and do.

Not so caught up in selfish gain
That I would fail to see
The things of life that mean the most
Cost not a fancy fee.

The warm kind words that I can give
The outstretched hand to help
The prayers I pray for those in need
More precious these than wealth.

I know not what may lie ahead
Of laughter or of tears,
I only need to know each day
That YOU are walking near.

Who
Walks into your life

The first sentence is pretty powerful!!!

God determines who walks into your life....it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.

Father, God bless all my friends in whatever it is that You know they may be needing this day! And may their life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as they seek to have a closer relationship with you.

Amen.

Thanks for being in my life
Wishing you love peace health joy and laughter

I was so sad to read about John Travolta's family losing their 16 year old son.
Treasure those you love and hug them tight.
You may never have the chance again.

The Shack

Image from a Greeting Card sent to me.
Thanks Jane
I love you

If you get a chance to read the book The Shack
perhaps you will enjoy it as much as I did

And every common bush afire with God,
But only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit around it and pluck blackberries.

Oooh La La

I have a thing for gorgeous men in cashmere coats
Ooooh La La

I have really enjoyed all my time with my handsome guy
while he has been on his Christmas vacation.
Back to work on Monday for him.
May his new work year be blessed.

My Prayer by the Platters
Justin's Dad always sang this song to me

It was played in the movie we seen today
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

When the twilight is gone and no songbirds are singing
When the twilight is gone you come into my heart
And here in my heart you will stay while I pray
My prayer is to linger with you
At the end of the day in a dream that's divine
My prayer is a rapture in bloom
With the world far away and your lips close to mine
Tonight while our hearts are aglow
Oh tell me the words that I'm longing to know
My prayer and the answer you give
May they still be the same for as long as we live
That you'll always be there at the end of my prayer

Happiness

Scenes around our home yesterday for the New Year
We had Chinese Fortune cookies
Ooolong Tea
and Lentil soup for good luck.
Thanks Shelagh for the soup recipe and telling me about that tradition.
Thanks everyone for the great start to 2009.
May it bless us all real well.
Love to you all

Happy New Year~Rabbit Rabbit

Happy New Year
Rabbit Rabbit
2009 will be fine

Maybe...God wanted us to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that,
when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

Maybe...when the door of happiness closes, another opens; but, often times,
we look so long at the closed door that we don't even see the new one which has been opened for us.

Maybe...it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it,
but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.

Maybe...the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Maybe...the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all,
you can't go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures and heartaches.

Maybe...there are moments in life when you miss someone -- a parent, a spouse, a friend, a child --
so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real.

Maybe...the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with,
never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had. We should all have one.

Maybe...you should always try to put yourself in others shoes. If you feel that something could hurt you, it probably will hurt the other person, too.

Maybe...you should do something nice for someone every single day, even if it is simply to leave them alone.

Maybe...giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back.
Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but, if it doesn't, be content
that it grew in yours.

Maybe...happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt, all those who have searched,
and all those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of all the people who have touched their lives.

Maybe...you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive; Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.

Maybe...you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you seek God's strength,
enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.

And the last maybe.....when you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Maybe...you should try to live your life so that when you die, you are the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Love is not about finding the perfect person, it's about learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.

And this small list of New Years "Thoughts" ...

*To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind
*To talk health, happiness and prosperity to everyone you meet
*To make your friends feel there is something worthwhile in them
*To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true
*To think only the best, to work only for the best, to expect only the best
*To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own
*To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future
*To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give a smile to every living creature you meet
*To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others
*To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble
